Financial and banking information systems: What’s next for the year 2020?

Nans Lorenzini, Legal and compliance officer at Limonetik, for Revue Banque

Heralding the beginning of a hyper-connected and fast-paced decade, 2020 will mark a shift to data sciences. While the last ten years have seen a radical change in both technology and usage, 2020 will engage the financial world and more particularly banks in the development of global programmes to boost the competitiveness of their activities. AI is the future of banking! It will be the reference in terms of LCB-FT, document review automation and user experience. For FinTechs, PSPs and other banks, 2020 will still be dedicated to DSP2 and its implementation. Significant work will be carried out on the implementation of strong authentication which, although rejected by the EBA and the Banque de France, will be at the heart of the issues. In fact, it will provide better consumer protection and will drastically reduce the risks of fraud for merchants and payment actors. Finally, 3DS v2 will also be in the spotlight; it will guarantee better interfacing and strengthen payment security.
